The Gifts for Life program enables individuals and groups to empower transformation in communities worldwide through the purchase of gifts to support those communities. The catalog features a wide range of gift options from $15 to help parents nurture and nourish a child to $1,284 to provide a complete care package to empower a community.

The catalog also includes a new offering to help give children with special needs the  opportunity to participate meaningfully in the life of the community. Hearing aids, glasses and other assistive devices are life-changing to children with physical challenges. Additionally, disaster relief kits, drought-resistant seeds, vocational training and bicycles are just a few of the other gift options. 

This year, the Gifts For Life catalog is organized to align with the organization’s three key program priorities: helping communities promote the rights of Women; supporting and protecting Children so they reach appropriate health and developmental milestones; and working with families and communities to adapt to the effects of a rapidly changing Climate.

Encourage you kids to dream about whatever it is that motivates, excites and drives them.



-        Teach your kids to build a healthy relationship with money: Unfortunately, most people see money through the eyes of fear and scarcity. The wealthy teach their kids to look at money as a positive force in their lives, and see it through the eyes of freedom, possibility, abundance and opportunity.



-        Teach your kids that wealth is nonlinear: School and most of what you learn is going to teach you to think in linear terms or in a straight line. 123. ABC. Unfortunately, the serious problems in society are rarely solved at this basic level of thought. Encourage your kids to look at things in as many different ways as possible, and in ways that other people never even consider. Teach them that linear thinking is the obvious. Nonlinear thinking is the nonobvious.  Linear thinking will make your kids a living. Nonlinear thinking will make them rich.



-        Teach your kids to maintain a sense of urgency: Teach your kids that with each passing year, time seems to accelerate, so they must operate with a sense of urgency. The masses procrastinate, stall and put-off fulfilling their commitments to the very last minute, which is often too late. Teach your kids it starts now by completing their class assignments, homework, chores, sports or music practice, and anything else they commit to in advance or at least on time.



-        Teach your kids to embrace conflict: Most people avoid conflict at all costs. They hate it. Teach your kids that constructive conflict can be a valuable learning mechanism. When smart people disagree on ideas, philosophies and strategies, new levels of understanding can be reached. Teach your kids to keep their emotions out of conflict and look at it through the eyes of logic and learning. If they do this, they’ll be able to use conflict to learn, grow, be more successful and make more money. Remember, conflict is inevitable, but combat is optional.



-        Teach your kids to fail forward: Teach your kids that success is usually built on a series of attempts and failures. Most of the world views failure as a death sentence. Instead of learning from the failure and moving forward, most people shrink back into their comfort zones and play it safe for the rest of their lives. Teach your kids that failure isn’t fun, but it is the required foundation of making it big. Making mistakes and the education they will give you is to be expected and embraced.



-        Teach your kids to take responsibility: Teach your kids they are responsible for their success, fulfillment and happiness. Most people like to blame everyone and everything but themselves for their struggles. It’s never their faults because they refuse to grow up and accept the fact that they are makers of their own destinies. Teach your kids not to wait for the hero on the white horse to come riding in to save them. They are the heroes and they are 100% responsible for saving themselves.



-        Teach your kids to cocoon themselves: Teach your kids to be selective over who gains access to their inner circle. The masses see this as an elitist action successful people take to isolate themselves from others because they think they’re better. That’s simply not true. Cocooning is about protecting your consciousness from the fear and scarcity mindsets that plagues the masses. Dr. Albert Einstein said, “Consciousness is contagious,” and he couldn’t be righter. Your kids will be the average of the five people they spend the most time with

Cassandra's Review-  I just skimmed the book it looks interesting but I will not be reading the full thing.  The notes section is much easier to skim or browse for certain topic enhancers. 

“Catchin babies” was only one aspect of the role of African American midwives in the twentieth-century South.  “Delivered by Midwives: African American Midwifery in the Twentieth Century South” by Jenny Luke uses evidence from nursing, medical and public health journals of the era: primary sources from state and county departments of health and personal accounts from practitioners to provide a new perspective on the childbirth experience of African American Women and their maternity care providers.

In addition, Luke covers the valuable aspects of a maternity care model that was discarded in the name of progress. She describes elements of the long- abandoned care model that are being reintroduced into modern practice, answering current health care problems by taking lessons from the past.

Today, according to Luke, the future of American midwifery is in the hands of the approximately 11,500 certified nurse-midwives, the largest denomination of midwives.  They continue to challenge obstetricians for a space in the American maternity care system, but their intention in not so supplant the physician but to supplement, she said.

For a century or more prenatal care has been accepted as the key to lowering maternal and infant mortality and midwives are unrivaled at facilitating women’s entry into care but midwifery must be integral to the larger system lest we return to a care model that was proven to be deficient Luke explained.

Pollotto a novel by Gloria H. Felcyn Review

The book is being published by Archway Publishing, a division of Simon & Schuster. The novel is the first by Felcyn, a retired CPA.

POLLOTTO, a gripping novel that centers on a revenge tale of the white-collar variety involving the IRS and Titus Miller, inventor of Pollotto, which is a consumer friendly lottery computer game played by US persons over the world.

Titus Miller is a self-made billionaire and CEO of a California company that markets Pollotto, a complex computer game that protects consumers who play the game and are unfamiliar with tax reporting laws by providing their winnings tax-free. As a result, Titus and his company have been the subjects of an intense IRS investigation for many years. So far, the IRS has been unable to penetrate the Pollotto tax structure developed by Titus's army of tax professionals. The IRS has been trying for years to gain access to the Pollotto technology and US person database, including offering Titus millions of dollars for access, which he has refused. As a last resort the IRS arranges to have conspiracy indictments filed against Titus and his company as a means of putting a stop to Pollotto and getting access to what the IRS wants.

Titus's history with the IRS goes back many years to his childhood when his father, Jacob, was audited by the the IRS after failing to report sweepstake winnings due to a lack of understanding tax reporting rules. In the audit, the IRS agent throws the book at Jacob, hitting him with excess of penalties and interest, forcing the sale of the family home in order to pay the IRS, despite the then young Titus's pleads for leniency for his father with the IRS agent, who is currently the head of the IRS.

Titus is determined that Pollotto players will never suffer the consequences that his father went through. Titus's company arranges to provide all winnings to Pollotto winners tax free. The taxes are 100% paid by Titus's company. Winners names are never disclosed to the IRS, which sets off a war between the IRS, Titus and his company. As Titus's past comes full circle, Titus must battle the IRS head who is willing to go to great lengths to getting government access to Pollotto, including divulging a Miller private family secret.

Cassandra's Review-   I had a really great time with this book it covers everything that a good conspiracy theory should to me and was so new from the other books I have been reading.
Eye opening is the best way to put the description but it leaves so many thoughts behind.
