Armed and Dangerous by John Ramirez Review

Armed and Dangerous:
The Ultimate Battle Plan for Targeting and Defeating the Enemy
by John Ramirez

Dynamic Battle Plan Identifies Enemy Tactics and Equips Believers to Live Victoriously

Jesus made it clear that the devil has come to steal, kill, and destroy. Hell is ready to unleash fury against every follower of Jesus. Yet many believers live in denial, letting the enemy steal their blessings, destroy their relationship with Jesus, and kill their hope.

But no more. It's time to put the enemy on notice!

With passion and insight gained from years on the frontlines of spiritual warfare, John Ramirez equips you with the biblical weapons and practical strategies you need to battle the enemy successfully, including how to
· discern and shut down the enemy's tactics and next moves
· fight with your God-given authority
· break free from destructive patterns and replace them with godly ones
· fortify your mind and heart against attacks
· take back what the devil has stolen
· grow in wisdom and maturity in Christ
· and more!

Here is everything you need to become armed and dangerous against every adversary that threatens your relationship and growth with Jesus. Through the power of the Holy Spirit you can destroy the power of the enemy and protect all that God has given you.

It's time to push back the gates of hell, advance the Kingdom, and live the life God designed you for.

Cassandra's Review- The book goes hand in hand with belief and if you are not open to the possibility of spiritual attacks, this is going to seem odd and kind of out of the ordinary.  If you grew up in a religious home more than likely you know all about this kind of thing.  For many it is new and for some it is impossible, so read it at your own discretion and take from it whatever you need to make your personal struggle a little less.  The author seems to have seen both ends of the spiritual world has he knows it and tells fact as her sees it.

The Weaver's Light by Mara Fields Review

The Weaver's Light
by Mara Fields
The Weaver's Light by [Fields, Mara]
After the death of his wife and child, master weaver, Callan Vellus, falls into an emotional darkness so profound that his life shrinks to the size of a brandy bottle; even his passion for his art cannot pull him back into the world. But when he has a distressing vision of falcon-faced warriors destroying a city and its citizens with blue flame leaping from their bare hands, he is roused from his stupor. Following an inexplicable compulsion, he travels north until he reaches the fire-wracked city of his dream where he finds the destruction is worse than he had imagined.

The locals claim that the death and ruin was caused by a freak lightning storm, nothing more, but despite their explanation, Callan cannot shake the feeling his vision was something other than an alcohol-induced hallucination. Pashi is an orphan living in the ravaged city, a girl who has had to learn to be on her own from a young age.

With the help of the secret tricks her mother taught her before she disappeared, Pashi not only lives safely in the streets, but survives a direct attack from the falcon mages. Yet she finds herself even more isolated from her classmates and community after the attack, as they have no memory of bizarre warriors blasting the city with unnatural fire.

But when Callan and Pashi meet, they soon realize they are the only people who know the truth of the bird-faced sorcerers, and what they plan to unleash on the realm. Scrambling to find clues about the invaders and how to stop them, the two uncover more than they’d bargained for, and the malevolent eyes of the falcon men turn on them. Can two unlikely heroes—a weaver and a child—find a way to escape the falcon mage’s wrath long enough to pull all the pieces together and stop the invasion? Or will the sorcerers’ blue flames reduce their world to ashes?

Cassandra's Review-  I feel this story could have been told in 100 pages, the added 300 are just fillers.  While I see the flow happening, I do not think it was the best pace.  I think the author took too much time getting to the points instead of bringing home the action in the chapters.  I could have done without half of the actual scene setups.  In the end the book was good and the story is going to surely kill time getting through.

Michael R. Emlet's Descriptions and Prescriptions Blog Tour

OCD, ADHD, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder . . . these are no longer just technical terms and medical diagnoses, they are part of our common vocabulary and culture.
Descriptions and Prescriptions
As Christians, we shouldn't isolate ourselves from this discussion or dismiss these important issues. But we also should be careful not to accept the entire secular psychiatric diagnostic and treatment enterprise without question. What we need is a balanced, biblically (and scientifically) informed approach that neither blindly accepts nor harshly dismisses psychiatric labels, diagnoses, and medicines that are prescribed to help those who are suffering.

As both a Biblical counselor and medical doctor, Michael R. Emlet, MD, gives readers a Christ-centered approach to psychiatry and guides both lay and professional helpers through the thicket of mental health labels and treatments with a biblical lens. In a clear and thoughtful way that puts the person experiencing mental health issues at the forefront, Emlet uses Scripture to show how the Bible engages in the discussion of psychiatric labels and the medications that are often recommended based on those labels. The first book in the "Helping the Helper" series, Descriptions and Prescriptions will give readers a biblical, gospel-formed perspective to help them understand and minister to those struggling with mental health issues.

I recevied a complimentary copy.

Cassandra's Review-  An interesting read that included facts as well as new knowledge.  The topic is one I am very interested in and found that while it is great to use the bible to help you get through anything, prescription medication is also very important and this author seems to include both.  I do feel like at some points someone might feel guilty or feel more inclined to believe that they are doing something wrong by following doctors advice, but this book will help.
