Cassandra's Review - While I do not have a beard, I do have an older teen male that did not mind trying the products out for me.  I got results such as, it did not cause irritation and smelled good.  It was easy to apply as well as rinse off.   There was a decent amount of softness which made the beard easier to brush.

Cassandra's Review Q & A-

- What did you like about the book and why?  I like that this is faith based and that the author chooses to put God first in belief as well as life.  The whole experience is refreshing and fulfilling with a result that is sure to please.

- What did you not like about the book and why?  I think that it is a seriously faith based book that may be offputting to people who do not know God.

- What did you learn? The author is informative and really wants to help the reader to immerse their life in the path of losing more than just weight.

- To whom would you recommend this book and why?  Any older age, that really needs to lose weight, but also the weight of the world.  It is more of a heavy handed book towards the faith in God which is only going to be perfect if you believe.

To Wager Her Heart By Tamera Alexander Review

With fates bound by a shared tragedy, a reformed gambler from the Colorado Territory and a Southern Belle bent on breaking free from society's expectations must work together to achieve their dreams—provided that the truth doesn't tear them apart first.

Sylas Rutledge, the new owner of the Northeast Line Railroad, invests everything he has into this venture, partly for the sake of the challenge. But mostly to clear his father's name. One man holds the key to Sy's success—General William Giles Harding of Nashville's Belle Meade Plantation. But Harding is champagne and thoroughbreds, and Sy Rutledge is beer and bullocks. Sy needs someone to help him maneuver his way through Nashville's society, and when he meets Alexandra Jamison, he quickly decides he's found his tutor. Only, he soon discovers that the very train accident his father is blamed for causing is what killed Alexandra Jamison's fiancee—and what has broken her heart.

Spurning an arranged marriage by her father, Alexandra instead pursues her passion for teaching at Fisk University, the first freedmen's university in the United States. But family—and Nashville society—do not approve, and she soon finds herself cast out from both. Through connections with the Harding family, Alexandra and Sy become unlikely allies. And despite her first impressions, Alexandra gradually finds herself coming to respect, and even care for this man. But how can she, when her heart is still spoken for? And when Sy's roguish qualities and adventuresome spirit smack more of recklessness than responsibility and honor?

Sylas Rutledge will risk everything to win over the woman he loves. What he doesn't count on is having to wager her heart to do it.

Set against the real history of Nashville's Belle Meade Plantation and the original Fisk University Jubilee Singers ensemble, To Wager Her Heart is a stirring love story about seeking justice and restoring honor at a time in history when both were tenuous and hard-won.

Cassandra's review-  Oh my, the final book in the series and I read it first!!! Ugh, I really need to pay more attention to that.  I was thrilled to get into the action of this well paced thriller, but it was a little hard to delve deeper after realizing that there was so much left out that I had not had the chance to learn.  It is like reading the last chapter first.  For this reason I feel I did not get the best experience like other readers who might have read in order.  As a standalone book this one was fine and the plot was easy to get into, everything is written in a way that I wanted to continue reading even though I knew it was the end.

Portrait of Vengeance By Carrie Stuart Parks Review

An unsolved case. A tempest of memories. The future’s at stake—and time is running out...

Gwen Marcey has done a good job of keeping the pain of her past boxed up. But as she investigates the case of a missing child in Lapwai, Idaho, details keep surfacing that are eerily similar to her childhood traumas. She doesn’t believe in coincidences. So what’s going on here?

No one knows more about the impact of the past than the Nez Perce people of Lapwai. Gwen finds herself an unwelcome visitor to some, making her investigation even more difficult. The questions keep piling up, but answers are slow in coming—and the clock is ticking for a missing little girl. Meanwhile, her ex-husband back home is threatening to take sole custody of their daughter.

As Gwen’s past and present collide, she’s in a desperate race for the truth. Because only truth will ensure she still has a future.

Cassandra's Review-  Well this was a book four , and I had no previous knowledge of the other books so as a standalone I think that the author did a fine job.  I would recommend reading the books in order though because I felt kind of cheated on the back story.  This is obviously not a book for young children, yet it can be read by youth adult or older.  I think that the true to life facts when encountering the suspense portions, make this a very good read.

The Little French Bistro by Nina George Review

From the New York Times and internationally bestselling author of The Little Paris Bookshop, an extraordinary novel about self-discovery and new beginnings.

Marianne is stuck in a loveless, unhappy marriage. After forty-one years, she has reached her limit, and one evening in Paris she decides to take action. Following a dramatic moment on the banks of the Seine, Marianne leaves her life behind and sets out for the coast of Brittany, also known as the end of the world.

Here she meets a cast of colorful and unforgettable locals who surprise her with their warm welcome, and the natural ease they all seem to have, taking pleasure in life s small moments. And, as the parts of herself she had long forgotten return to her in this new world, Marianne learns it s never too late to begin the search for what life should have been all along.

With all the buoyant charm that made The Little Paris Bookshop a beloved bestseller, The Little French Bistro is a tale of second chances and a delightful embrace of the joys of life in France.

Cassandra's Review- I must say this book is a bit of an upset, as the read is more of a turtle pace.  The characters are written older so this book is not going to really connect with a younger person or really anyone under 50.   It includes a plot that is not sweet or a mystery, but more of a challenge to crawl through.  Sadly this one is not going to make it to my recommendations.
