The Chamberlain Key By Timothy P. Smith Review

31158753

There is more to the Bible than we ever imagined...messages from God--both hopeful and troubling--hidden for ages, now revealed by modern computer technology.

The Chamberlain Key tells how Timothy Smith, an appraiser and conservator of artifacts and antiquities, discovered and decoded a complex message in an ancient Hebrew manuscript of the Bible--a message that applied startlingly and unmistakably to him!

The book relates the painstaking process Smith undertook to verify and authenticate this "contact"--a quest filled with adventure and mystery. But instead of using old maps to find buried treasure, this hunt uses the data calculation power of modern technology.

The author's remarkable discovery shows how the Bible is even more amazing than we ever dreamed... layered with meaning and insight, a book like no other, prepared by a brilliant Creator who wants to explain his loving plans, as well as issue serious warnings that may apply to the generations alive today."

Cassandra' review-  The author brings a deep and interesting read.  The amazing finds and ways that this author came to conclusions is really neat.  The book is absolutely for believers of the Bible because that is the whole point.   I think this will bring up many discussions for study groups and would be great for Bible schools.  Ages teen and older will really get the most from it as far as being able to understand and follow along.   Get ready to be awakened to more Bible reveals.

The I Factor By Van Moody Review

29492024

The I Factor
How Building a Great Relationship with Yourself Is the Key to a Happy, Successful Life
By Van Moody

The key to the life you want is inside you.

One question lies behind every struggle we face: How do I deal with myself? Behind all our stumbles, behind each of our missteps, behind every one of our failings lies an inability to handle what Van Moody calls the “I-Factor.” More than self-worth or self-respect, beyond even character and perception of purpose, the I-Factor is about managing yourself—your whole life—well. In his inspiring new book, Moody reveals how to get hold of your I-Factor.

Moody identifies three dynamics essential to winning the battle of the I-Factor: identity, significance, and perspective. When you understand your identity you know who you are, setting your foundation for everything. When you understand your significance, you see the purpose and the greatness you were created for. And when you understand perspective, you can view the problems you face as stepping-stones to greatness rather than stumbling blocks. Properly understand these three dynamics, and you will be able to master your I-Factor.

Weaving together personal stories, practical principles, and profound biblical truth, The I-Factor provides the key to achieving the life of greatness that you are destined for.

Cassandra's Review-  The author is giving you something as you read the book and allowing you into this realm of seriousness.  The book has so much to offer if you take the time to read it and I think that anyone male or female and older than 17 would benefit from its knowledge.   There is a lot of faith based material, so it helps to believe in that perspective.  It was interesting and real.

The Sisters of Sugarcreek by Cathy Liggett Review

30956070

Many lives were changed the day a fire burned down Faith Community Church, devastating the small town of Sugarcreek, Ohio. Now a young Amish widow, Lydia Gruber faces an uncertain future. Her husband, a craftsman and volunteer firefighter, always took care of everything, keeping her isolated from others in their community. Without anyone or any skills, how will she survive? With the death of her beloved aunt Rose in the fire, single mom Jessica Holtz inherits Rose's Knit One Quilt Too cottage.

Though determined to keep the shop open in her aunt's memory, she doesn't know the first thing about knitting and quilting and begins to see her aunt's dream slip through her fingers. When Liz Cannon lost her dear friend Rose, she also lost her partner in the Secret Stitches Society--the name they gave themselves while delivering gifts of hope to troubled folks in the dark of night.

Liz convinces Jessica to keep the anonymous society going, despite the younger women's inadequacy with knitting and sewing needles. But soon Liz has problems of her own as the life she has rebuilt for herself begins to crumble again. When Liz and Jessica choose Lydia for their first mission, the three women cross paths and form an unlikely friendship in the aftermath of tragedy. As they walk together through triumph and heartbreak--through grief and new chances at love--they begin to discover that with friends by your side, a stitch of hope can be found anywhere.

Cathy Liggett

Cathy Liggett knew writing fiction was for her after reading aloud a junior high English assignment and watching the class—at least the girls—well up with emotion. Yet it wasn't until much later in life that she seriously tried her hand at storytelling again. First came years of advertising copywriting, gift product development, and the publication of a non-fiction book.

Through it all, the urge to write fiction kept tugging on her, and a few years ago she published sweet romances for the secular market. After the release of these books, however, came an even stronger tug on her heart—a yearning to write inspirational fiction. Beaded Hope came from that desire.

Cathy and her husband, Mark, live in Loveland, Ohio, and are always happy when their greatest blessings—their two grown children—are home for a stay. Visit her Web site at www.cathyliggett.com.

- What did you like about the book and why?  I like that it is a great book of friendship and bonding that lifts women up instead of hate and negative drama.

- To whom would you recommend this book and why? Older women, because it is based more in a way that would make them feel cozy and interested.

Cooking for Picasso A Novel By C. A. Belmond Review

For listeners of Paula McLain, Nancy Horan, and Melanie Benjamin, this captivating novel is inspired by a little-known interlude in the artist's life.

The French Riviera, spring 1936: It's off-season in the lovely seaside village of Juan-les-Pins, where 17-year-old Ondine cooks with her mother in the kitchen of their family-owned Café Paradis. A mysterious new patron who's slipped out of Paris and is traveling under a different name has made an unusual request - to have his lunch served to him at the nearby villa he's secretly rented, where he wishes to remain incognito.

Pablo Picasso is at a momentous crossroads in his personal and professional lives - and for him, art and women are always entwined. The spirited Ondine, chafing under her family's authority and nursing a broken heart, is just beginning to discover her own talents and appetites. Her encounter with Picasso will continue to affect her life for many decades onward, as the great artist and the talented young chef both pursue their own passions and destinies.

New York, present day: Céline, a Hollywood makeup artist who's come home for the holidays, learns from her mother, Julie, that Grandmother Ondine once cooked for Picasso. Prompted by her mother's enigmatic stories and the hint of more family secrets yet to be uncovered, Céline carries out Julie's wishes and embarks on a voyage to the very town where Ondine and Picasso first met. In the lush, heady atmosphere of the Côte d'Azur, and with the help of several eccentric fellow guests attending a rigorous cooking class at her hotel, Céline discovers truths about art, culture, cuisine, and love that enable her to embrace her own future.

Featuring an array of both fictional characters and the French Riviera's most famous historical residents, set against the breathtaking scenery of the South of France, Cooking for Picasso is a touching, delectable, and wise story illuminating the powers of trust, money, art, and creativity in the choices that men and women make as they seek a path toward love, success, and joie de vivre.

Cassandra's Review-  I felt that this audiobook was both lacking in a story that I would really delve into and written in a way that made it seem too good to be true.   It was almost like the author was stretching for more then what have could have really been there and adding a lot to what could be written simple with more power.   Unfortunately it is one of those time when I would have preferred not finishing it.

Can he rescue them no matter what the cost? Will love, strength, and faith redefine his past and change the course of his future?

I recevied a complimentary screening.

Cassandra's Review-  I wish I could write of how wonderful and exciting this movie was, but I found it real, raw and heartbreaking.  I guess it really needed to be this way, to show truth and bring awareness.  The sad part is this is the lighter version of what does happen every day.   So I would recommend this to teens and older in order to bring awareness.   You need to be open and ready for a great deal of sadness.
