With All Due Respect By Nina Roesner and Debbie Hitchcock Review

With All Due Respect is a handbook for parents navigating the difficulties of the tween and teen years. Roesner and Hitchcock help parents identify what successful relationships look like and give easy-to-follow lessons in enforcing rules, communicating lovingly, resetting relationships, overcoming fears and exhaustion, and handling rebellion.

Each day features a story every mom can relate to, down-to-earth questions to think about, and a prayer to launch an action plan. As a result, the reader gains new skills and perspective, greater strength, and an ability to live out faith daily as never before. With All Due Respect is for all parents seeking not only to connect more deeply with and positively impact their teens and tweens, but also to grow more deeply in faith through the process.

Cassandra's Review-  I found it like a light in the dark and as a mom to sometimes many more children then I birthed, this is a very true book. Now for some people who do not follow God or see a true need, connection or existence, this book is not going to be for you.  The authors have obviously found God and feel that life is only to be lived with him.

So stopping to pray might not be at all what you think is going to work.  I would recommend this for all the rest of the God fearing, loving ,open hearted people of the world that would like to adjust themselves both mentally and spiritually while not getting mad enough to take out one of your own family members.

Greater Than Gold From Olympic Heartbreak to Ultimate Redemption By David Boudia Review

One of America’s most heralded young divers, David Boudia twice went for Olympic gold, training obsessively and whole-heartedly for success. In his first Olympics, he failed miserably, not winning a single medal. Four years later saw a different story: he mounted the podium twice, winning both gold and bronze. The difference? In the intervening years, he’d changed the focus of his quest from seeking glory for himself to giving glory to God.

In Greater Than Gold, Boudia provides a behind-the-scenes access to the rarefied world of world-class athletics while also showing readers that when they place their hope in God, they receive what they’ve been seeking all along.

Cassandra's Review-  I have heard the saying that with God  all things are possible and I so I feel that if you are a believer and give your glory to God good things could happen for you.   Being able to lift yourself up mentally with the help of religion is great and I was very happy to read about the triumph of such a well deserved guy.  The book was written in a way that most older ages can enjoy it.

Cassandra's Review Q&A-

- What did you like about the book and why?  The way that everything is believable and not out of the possibility of actually happening was a good touch to the easy to understand and follow book.   There is a good amount of suspense but not a huge build up.

- What did you not like about the book and why? I did not like that it was the end of the series as I not only read out of order but the conclusion so that I would not be able to go back and read the full series.

- What did you learn? The author has a good writing style that I enjoyed.

- To whom would you recommend this book and why?  I think that middle aged women might like this a lot more, but that is just my opinion because to me the tone is more laid back with a good element of suspense

Starry-Eyed By Mandy Arioto Review

Being a mom is all of it: light and dark, highs and lows, fever pitch frustration and all-consuming love. By now, you already know that with great love comes great joy . . . and great pain. It can be crazy-making! But it doesn’t have to be.

In Starry-Eyed, MOPS CEO Mandy Arioto reveals how the brightest and darkest moments of motherhood alike can become a sacred—and sanity-saving— opportunity to encounter God. There is a way to flourish in the midst of it all, and it starts with embracing the light and darkness in life with expectation and awe.

Heartening, enchanting, and always unflinchingly honest, Starry-Eyed will show you how to find the unexpected grace in your life as a woman, wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Consider this your heart-to-heart sit-down with a woman who’s been there, and can help you find fresh eyes to see how beauty and pain can mingle with purpose.

Cassandra's Review-  The author seems to write openly in a tone that is honest.  I found the book to have a few moments where as a mom I could actually relate.  Getting closer or learning about God to some has a different view from everyone, but it is a really good outcome for those who seek to learn.  The book has a good connection for both.

About the Book

In the small town of Abbott Creek, mystery is as much a part of daily life as The Sweet Shop’s sugar cookies.

Katie Chupp spends her days at The Sweet Shop, taking care of customers and baking delicious treats . . . not exactly a profession where one expects to be thrown into the midst of mysteries and mayhem.

But when the bakery is broken into, someone has to find the thief . . . besides finding another place to do the baking and get the orders to the customers.

Is this a random theft, or is the thief trying to ruin the town’s Independence Day celebration?

Cassandra's Review- Hungry for more, I bet the author has had that said a million times, but really this is a great little cozy mystery with a hint of tasty goodies.
