Adventures of Mustang Sally By Don Rashke Review

As a pup, Mustang Sally-a Staffordshire Bull Terrier-is whisked away from her mom and siblings. With the help of her pal Don Rashke, she shares her story in Adventures of Mustang Sally. Sally's memoir is a touching tale of adventure, love, and loss.

Born in England, she travels to Texas to live with Don and his wife Patricia. Sally has some close calls negotiating a host of puppy dangers. She's just settling in when her pals discover the world of dog shows. Sally also experiences the challenges of motherhood and the unconditional love of her human family.

About the authors

Staffordshire Bull Terrier Mustang Sally is a retired AKC dog show competitor with five champion pups of her own. Originally from England, Mustang Sally currently resides in Montgomery, Texas, and enjoys playing outside with her pups and the Rashke family.

Prior to moving to Texas and marrying Patricia, Don Rashke was the founder and CEO of a successful employee benefits services company based in Wisconsin. After they adopted Mustang Sally, the Rashkes set up Mustang Sally’s Kennel, and Sally and her pups later won many ribbons in dog shows across the country.

Please Be Nice to Sharks By Matt Weiss Review

Meet 14 cool sharks (and one manta ray) and see why it's important to BE NICE TO SHARKS! Though they’re often portrayed as vicious man-eaters, sharks actually kill fewer than 10 people per year.

Yet those myths cause real harm: many species are being hunted to extinction, with as many as 100-200 million sharks being killed each year.

This humorous book humanizes the incredible shark through breathtaking, original, underwater photography along with incredible facts about these amazing creatures in the wild—sending kids a crucial message about conservation in an irresistible format.

Matt Weiss is the owner of Dive Photo Guide and is a diver, photographer, biologist, author, and ocean lover. Please Be Nice To Sharks is his first children’s book. Follow him on Twitter at either @MattDPG or @DivePhotoGuide and learn more about him on his website: Matt lives in New York.

The Mind of Terror by Tass Saada Review

What motivates Islamic terrorists? What is in the mind of terror? Our news reports from the Middle East cover events―bombings, massacres, and suicide attacks. Our newscasters take time to explain who the players are―from Hezbollah to the Iranian Quds, from ISIS to the Palestinian National Authority.

But there is something underneath these events and players that fuels atrocity after atrocity in the Middle East. What is it? Tass Saada provides the answer to that question as he delves into the mind of terror, explaining what motivates extremist groups throughout the Middle East.

A former Muslim and a onetime sniper with Yasser Arafat’s Fatah organization, Tass has lived it himself. At age 42, he steered his life in a radical new direction, committing it to Jesus. Tass not only describes the motivations and aspirations of those who live in the Middle East, he also outlines a peaceful solution. We can plant seeds of hope that will transform not only the Middle East, but also our increasingly diverse neighborhoods at home. Discover the mind behind terror and how to oppose its grip.

Cassandra's Review Q&A-

- What did you like about the book and why? The truth and answers that most people are trying so hard to find are included in an honest and straightforward way.   It is hard for me to cover topics like this and especially feature this type of book or read it in my home, but information in power in a world like this.

- What did you not like about the book and why? It is so controversial of a topic that I fear most will never pick up the book.

- What did you learn? So much more then what is given to the public.  The book is great for closed minded people and people who act only out of ignorance.

- To whom would you recommend this book and why?  Anyone mostly older in age as it would be hard for younger kids to read this and it is not made for youth.

Return to Joy Finding Healing in the Arms of Your Savior by Bev DeSalvo Review

In Return to Joy, Bev DeSalvo shares her own story of healing from past pain to draw other women along a journey toward intimacy with their Savior. The road to healing is arduous and long. But when we bow our pain in worship, this broken road leads to the heart of God, where all masks are removed and divine comfort can be experienced.

On this journey, understanding the true nature of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit brings healing and restoration to all father, relational, and mother wounds. Learning to aggressively fight against Satan, who is devious but not creative, replaces his evil lies with the truth of God so that they no longer define the person. Recognizing that God is always “with me” leads to a place of rest where there is no fear of being rejected or abandoned. As a result of these new insights, the reader can finally return to joy and experience emotional and spiritual balance. Out of the overflow of intimate worship, God becomes their refuge, provider, and protector, enabling them to move toward others in forgiveness and true community.

Includes a ten-week Bible study.

Unashamed by Christine Caine Review

Unashamed: Drop the Baggage, Pick up Your Freedom, Fulfill Your Destiny
Shame can take on many forms. It hides in the shadows of the most successful, confident and high-achieving woman who struggles with balancing her work and children, as well as in the heart of the broken, abused and downtrodden woman who has been told that she will never amount to anything. Shame hides in plain sight and can hold us back in ways we do not realize. But Christine Caine wants readers to know something: we can all be free.

“I know. I’ve been there,” writes Christine. “I was schooled in shame. It has been my constant companion from my very earliest memories. I see shame everywhere I look in the world, including in the church. It creeps from heart to heart, growing in shadowy places, feeding on itself so that those struggling with it are too ashamed to seek help from shame itself.”

In Unashamed, Christine reveals the often-hidden consequences of shame—in her own life andthe lives of so many Christian women—and invites you to join her in moving from a shame-filled to a shame-free life.

In her passionate and candid style, Christine leads you into God’s Word where you will see for yourself how to believe that God is bigger than your mistakes, your inadequacies, your past, and your limitations. He is not only more powerful than anything you’ve done but also stronger than anything ever done to you. You can deal with your yesterday today, so that you can move on to what God has in store for you tomorrow—a powerful purpose and destiny he wants you to fulfill.

Join the journey. Lay ahold of the power of Jesus Christ today and step into the future—his future for you—a beautiful, full, life-giving future, where you can even become a shame-lifter to others. Live unashamed!

The Longing in Me How Everything You Crave Leads to the Heart of God By Sheila Walsh Review

Do your desires have you going around in circles? You may be looking for fulfillment in all the wrong places.

You vowed you’d never repeat the same mistakes—yet you find yourself right where you started. What is it that keeps drawing you back into the same old traps? The fact is, your longings are built from the blueprint of your needs: for protection, for love, for God. And those needs aren’t going anywhere.

Sheila speaks candidly about the trials in her life, including the heartache of her first marriage, and intertwines her story with the biblical saga of King David. As both Sheila’s and David’s stories make clear, some cravings are misguided, but they all stem from the same hunger—and they will haunt you until that hunger gets satisfied properly.

If you keep reaching out to the wrong people at the wrong times in your own life, The Longing in Me will help you understand that your cravings are not the problem. It’s where they lead you that makes all the difference.
