photo as seen on site

 Signature Hands Free Pumping Bra

This innovative bra gives moms the valuable gift of time by freeing up their hands for other tasks or allowing them to simply relax while using their breastpump. The patented design is adjustable in size, using high quality Velcro, to sustain a perfect fit over time as a nursing mother’s size changes. Straps and 1” Zip In Center Panel included to help achieve the perfect fit !

Simple Wishes- hands free pumping bra empowers nursing moms by giving them the gift of time and the ability to relax while pumping.

I received complimentary product.

Cassandra's review- The bra is super soft and fit with just a few adjustments.  It is comfortable during use.     You can pump and hold the baby at the same time as long as they are not moving around alot.  It does not get super messy during use.  It does not hold the pump machine itself so you're not completely free to move during the process if you have tubes connecting.   I would recommend this for the on the go mom who does not have 30 minutes or so to relax and pump and also if you have problems holding the pump to the chest.  It is also more discreet which is great if you have guests.

The Queen of Katwe by Tim Crothers Review

The “astonishing” (The New York Times Book Review) and “inspirational” (Shelf Awareness) true story of Phiona Mutesi—a teenage chess prodigy from the slums of Uganda.

One day in 2005 while searching for food, nine-year-old Ugandan Phiona Mutesi followed her brother to a dusty veranda where she met Robert Katende.

Katende, a war refugee turned missionary, had an improbable dream: to empower kids in the Katwe slum through chess—a game so foreign there is no word for it in their native language. Laying a chessboard in the dirt, Robert began to teach. At first children came for a free bowl of porridge, but many grew to love the game that—like their daily lives—requires perseverance against great obstacles. Of these kids, one girl stood out as an immense talent: Phiona.

By the age of eleven Phiona was her country’s junior champion, and at fifteen, the national champion. Now a Woman Candidate Master—the first female titled player in her country’s history—Phiona dreams of becoming a Grandmaster, the most elite level in chess. But to reach that goal, she must grapple with everyday life in one of the world’s most unstable countries. The Queen of Katwe is a “remarkable” (NPR) and “riveting” (New York Post) book that shows how “Phiona’s story transcends the limitations of the chessboard” (Robert Hess, US Grandmaster).

I recevied a complimentary copy of the book.

Cassandra's Review- If you love chess and helping others to get ahead, this is going to be a really good read. A complex game like chess is not easy to master, but anyone can play with some teaching as well as practice. This girl however mastered it. The book shares all about her story.

Vegangelical by Sarah Withrow King Review

Among the many pressing social concerns that have galvanized evangelical Christians’ response—abortion, human trafficking, environmental degradation, and many others—the care of animals has received relatively little attention.

Yet as author Sarah Withrow King deftly uncovers in Vegangelical, animal stewardship is a necessary aspect of a holistic ethic of Christian peace and justice. Indeed, care for animal welfare correspondingly strengthens our care for environmental and human flourishing.

Practical, restrained in its conclusions, and grounded on a broader theology of Christian compassion, Vegangelical calls readers to a greater attentiveness to one of the primary relationships in God’s created order, that between humans and animals.

You can learn more on Goodreads.

I recevied a complimentary copy.

Cassandra's Review-  I eat meat, and I love to do so.  I encourage others to stick with the same plan of eating meat that we have had forever.   While I do not think it fair to treat animals cruelly or inhumane in any way, some have to die respectively and for the purpose they were intended as to feed and keep humans and other animals alive.

One does not look down upon other animals killing each other violently and if God did not want that to happen it would not.  So this book is a bit out of my league and did nothing but anger me a bit as to how closed minded a person is, by thinking they are so open minded.  No, I do not intend for this to become a topic on my blog, it is a book that I have read for purposes only.

With My Eyes Wide Open Miracles and Mistakes on My Way Back to KoRn By Brian "Head" Welch Review

He left KoRn to help himself. He went back to help others. And along the way, he nearly lost everything.

A life-changing spiritual awakening freed Brian “Head” Welch from a stranglehold of drugs and alcohol and prompted him to leave the highly successful nu-metal band KoRn in 2005. What followed was a decade-long trial by fire, from the perils of fathering a teen lost in depression and self-mutilation to the harsh realities of playing solo and surviving the shattering betrayal of a trusted friend. In this intensely inspiring redemption saga, perhaps most inspiring is Brian’s radical decision to rejoin KoRn and reconcile with the tribe of people he once considered family in the metal music scene.

Brian returned to his musical roots with a clear head and a devoted heart. Though his story is wild, hilarious, and deeply poignant, the message is simple: God will love you into the freedom of being yourself, as long as you keep the relationship going and never, ever quit.

I recevied a complimentary copy.

Cassandra's Review-   Thank you to Brian for not being afraid to go forth in his choices and stick by them.  It takes strength and willpower beyond means sometimes.   Most people would straighten up and move on forgetting any and everything from the past, but this author had the courage to turn back and give his new self to bring a stronger future for everyone involved and along the way has this great book that is inspiration through it all.

2014 Editor's Choice Winner

Cassandra's Review--  Given at different times of the day, once an hour before a meal and after a meal, this had different results.  It was tried both times but my dogs ate more after the meal I served, I am not sure what that means, but they did not finish what I gave them for dinner, but did finish this.

I tried before the meal and noticed there was quite a bit more water drinking after testing that I did not see the other trial time.  I also gave this to a few stray dogs in the neighborhood and they just ate it and left.   I guess since at all times there was no hesitation or uninterested dogs, this was a success.    Now the food itself looks good, not like junky puree yuck.   It smells ok.  The treats are easy to feed and did not make a mess.

The Life We Never Expected by Andrew and Rachel Wilson Review #lifeweneverexpected #FlyBy GIVEAWAY

Sometimes life throws you a curveball.

Andrew and Rachel Wilson know what it means to live a life they never expected. As the parents of two children with special needs, their story mingles deep pain with deep joy in unexpected places. With raw honesty, they share about the challenges they face on a daily basis—all the while teaching what it means to weep, worship, wait, and hope in the Lord. Offering encouragement rooted in God's Word, this book will help you cling to Jesus and fight for joy when faced with a life you never expected.

You can purchase this book on Amazon.

About the Author

Andrew and Rachel Wilson are part of the leadership team at Kings Church in Eastbourne in the United Kingdom, and have two children, Zeke and Anna. Andrew is also a columnist for Christianity Today and the author of a number of books, including If God, Then What? and Unbreakable.

Cassandra's Review-  I personally have children with special needs and never thought of it as a challenge or different than raising any other "normal" child.   You just have to be a stronger parent and take the time to learn the disability and how to work with it.

I find it in poor taste to write a book focusing on how hard and trying it is to be a parent.  Focusing any time on yourself and having a pity party.   However if you should be one of those people who feel the need to connect and feel poorly about your life and children as well as weep and be  dismayed, this book will go well with you and help to join you with the authors who feel the same way.

God and faith are added in to give strength, but I found the whole book to be in poor taste.   For anyone to write about the trials of having kids and then add in that they are special needs is to me insulting.  All children are tough to raise and  the authors had a choice to give them up for adoption if they could not handle having the added "stress"   I just feel like they are giving up and saying that God is going to handle everything instead of taking charge and asking God to lift them up.

Maybe I read the book wrong, but that is how I personally felt. I will not give these authors a pat on the back for having a life most people do and being lucky enough to be blessed with any children to begin with.  They seem to have spent most of their life looking down and backward.   Yet wrote the book to help others look up.

I agree to use this product and post my opinion on my blog. My opinions do not necessarily reflect the opinions of May Media Group LLC or the manufacturer of this product.

Cassandra's Review-  First of all I had the worst time trying to find these in my area.  I had to have another person drive over 50 miles to pick them up  (since I do not have a safe working vehicle) and I just took one pack to try.   The more disappointing thing about these for me was the taste because they were actually not good at all.

I  think this is the last time I will accept coupons for review products and I did not know I was receiving them with no hotdogs.    There are other products this brand makes but they were nowhere to be found.   The hot dogs did not cook well and even with a few different toppings to try and mask them, they are just not wonderful to my taste buds.    I am in no way creating a negative review based on the actual work it took to find and prepare them.  I would give them one half of a star out of five because they do look like hot dogs, they also do not smell like one.

If you have tried this brand, please leave a comment and let me know how you thought of them and where you found them located.

Odds On by Matt Hall Review

Evidence Is the Key to Investment Success

Odds On: The Making of an Evidence-Based Investor isn't just another investment advice book. It's a memoir, a manifesto, and a guide to the way investing should be. Odds On describes author Matt Hall's role in an ongoing revolution in the investment world: the shift from a traditional sales-driven, active-management model to a model that draws on academic evidence to better serve the real interests of investors.
Matt's story begins with his first exposure to Wall Street, where he becomes disillusioned with the traditional investing model due to its inability to truly help clients. He stumbles into the emerging evidence-based investing world, and learns how to help investors reach their goals through methods that reflect the limits of our abilities to predict which investments will deliver the highest returns.

Matt's unique approach to investing is built on a dual foundation of knowledge and purpose: knowledge gained through evidence-based strategies involving research, data, and logic, and purpose gained by personal reflection on what money and success truly mean. In Odds On, Matt's storytelling makes financial topics truly relevant and easy to understand, while his investment philosophy offers readers a chance to move beyond decisions based on anxiety and confusion, and manage wealth in ways that lead to greater success and a richer life.

Learn more about Hall at and connect with him on LinkedIn and Twitter.

Odds On is currently available on 800 CEO Read, Amazon and other fine booksellers.

Cassandra's Review-  I am not super familiar with the topic of investing so this book packed a lot of knowledge that kind of made me feel lost for a bit.  The author does write in an easy to read tone that I could learn from without being overwhelmed.

Legacy Discovered By Kerry Reis Review

When they first met sixteen years ago, Ali was convinced she had found in Ryan a man who grew up like she did: as a foster care orphan. In college on the East Coast, the couple was young and in love so Ali did not think it strange when Ryan demanded that they quickly marry and immediately transfer to a Midwestern university to begin their life as newlyweds. They are now a poster for stable, middle-class marriages. Ryan has an independent law practice; Ali is an ER nurse. The couple has a daughter and a son in high school and middle school, respectively. Yet when Ryan leads a blockbuster case, teaming up with other lawyers to lead a class action suit against a toxic industrial development by billionaire Charles Barnett, all hell breaks loose.

During the case discovery, Ali learns that Ryan is really the sole son and namesake of magnate Charles Barnett. “Ryan” faked his death by disappearing off his sailboat near the Massachusetts coast sixteen years ago. His real name is Charles Barnett Jr. and he faked his death to avoid the pressure of the family legacy and to marry Ali, who came from a lower social status. He took Ryan as his name, assuming the legal identity of a college roommate who died young.

While shocking to all involved, Ali rises above the situation and uses her love for Ryan as the driving force to reunite the estranged father and son. Bit by bit, the family members put together the missing pieces of their lives. Ali learns how to reconcile her family to their new in-laws and the powerful society in which they live. She points the father and son on a path to a final redemption. This dramatic fiction of love and family is a story in the tradition of the classic 1970s film Love Story.

Author Kerry Reis was inspired by the movie’s premise of a wealthy scion turning his back on his family and their wealth in order to marry a woman from a poorer background. He even used the names Ryan and Ali in homage to Ryan O’Neal and Ali MacGraw, the lead actors in the original film.

Though it is a love story, Legacy Discovered steers clear from being a romance novel and instead, delves into the dramatic weight of family secrets and the burdens of love. Ali must grapple with the fact that Ryan is not the same man she married two decades ago, not even his name. Ryan must realize that on some level, he will always be Charles Barnett Jr. and must make peace with a father he often despised.

It’s a story about how the secrets one man takes on for noble reasons will still come back to haunt him. Yet it also shows how the strength of love will reconnect families and provide redemption from the sins of the father. A searing novel that demonstrates the strength of love and the power of class to haunt our lives, Legacy Discovered is a moving meditation on how to redeem the past.

As Ryan says to his teenage daughter, “Status does not determine character. Character determines status.”

Cassandra's Review-  This is not a soggy romance.  The author has written in the characters in great detail so that it is easier to follow along with the story.  Very well written and has an easy flow.

Coles Perfect Puppy by Frances Crossno Review

Cole's Perfect Puppy is the first in a series of  Christian novels for young readers 7-12. The story revolves around Cole, his younger brother Caleb, and their new-found friend Rachel who teaches the brothers about friendship, sacrifice, and God's perfect love.

If your child enjoys the Puppy Place series by Ellen Miles, they will likely enjoy the Perfect Puppy books.

Synopsis of Cole's Perfect Puppy:

At the mall pet store, Cole falls in love with a red golden retriever puppy named Scarlet. When Scarlet "escapes" the pet store and runs through the mall, Cole Helps capture her.  He asks his Uncle Bobby to get him a puppy for Christmas.

At Christmas he finds a new pet under the tree- but not a puppy.  It is a pot-bellied pig instead.  After Christmas the pet store owner offers Cole a part-time, after-school job taking care of dogs at the store. Cole vows to save up his earnings to buy Scarlet.

Cole meets Rachel at the mall, where she is doing her homework in the food court. Rachel's mother works at a mall restaurant and they live in a trailer in the parking lot.   Rachel's father was killed in Iraq, and she and her mother were forced out of their house and she had to give up her kitten.  Caleb is a classmate of Rachel, but avoids her because other boys in school tease her for her wrinkled clothes.

Rachel tells Cole and Caleb that she loves cats.  When the pet store acquires three kittens, Rachel is a regular visitor who takes a liking to one of the kittens, a calico, she names Miss Calico.  Rachel, a Christian, tells Cole about Jesus and His love for the world.  Cole listens and thinks about it.

Meanwhile, there are a couple of close calls at the pet store.  A lady wants to buy Scarlet.  Scarlet has other ideas and grabs her purse and takes off through the store.  Cole catches her.  The lady decides the puppy is too rambunctious and buys two of the kittens instead.   Miss Calico, however, is not one of them.
Cole and Caleb's parents are photographers on assignment in Egypt, where there are demonstrations and street violence.  When they lose contact with them, Cole and Caleb pray for their parents' safety. Cole is moved and accepts Jesus into his heart.  Their prayers are answered. Their parents are safe in Greece and will shortly return home.

Caleb stands up for Rachel when another boy taunts her.  Rachel and her mother will leave shortly for California where she will live with her grandmother.

Cole uses his savings to buy the kitten for Rachel before she leaves, which means he must postpone buying Scarlet.

Caleb decides to buy the pig from Cole so his brother has enough money to purchase Scarlet. However, they are shocked to learn that the pet store has closed.  He, Caleb and Rachel rush to the store, only to find it empty.  They pray for the safety of the dogs and that they find good homes.  The dogs will go up for auction with the rest of the store's property.

Cole and Caleb's parents return to the states.  On the way home from the airport, they announce that they must attend an important meeting.  Unknown to Cole and Caleb, the "meeting" is the auction where the pet store's dogs will be auctioned off.  Cole's father is high bidder on Scarlet.  Scarlet gets loose from the auctioneer and races to Cole  - Cole's perfect puppy!

I recevied a complimentary copy.

Cassandra's Review- A tearjerker with faith mixed in.   This is for children, but it is not as feel good to me as it is a bunch of bad to worse situations in which putting faith in God would be a great idea.  It actually made my family sad during most of the reading ( I read outloud).  It is well written and the story does flow well.  I just felt more down at the end, I see that this is a book one, but I would not personally read book 2.  In fairness if you like to share stories of this topic with your children it will be a good one.
