Cassandra's review- I could not get through the whole book without saying at least a few times "Oh, yes that is so true."   The antics and funny that is complied makes this such a great read. I love rescuing and being able to help as many pets as possible and then finding them different forever homes, because all of the shelters around my area are kill only.  I know that is some cases plets will need to be put to sleep, but the shelters are killing them just because they are overcrowded. I wish there were more programs geared toward helping people like me who are willing to open their hearts to a willing pet and take the time to find them a good free home to live happily.  I was pleased that that Chicken Soup partnered with the  American Humane Society and is sending them the royalties.

Cassandra's Review- As with all of the books by Chicken Soup for the Soul this one is a mix of super delightful stories that are sure to please any dog lover.  I like how each story is short and there is no rush to get through the whole book, giving me time to enjoy it at my own pace.  Very well grouped and written with a mix of voices so that none of the stories are dull.

Center Ring by Nicole Waggoner Review

About Center Ring

One evening, Norah Merrit, a dedicated obstetrician known for her bedside manner and service to Doctors Without Borders, walks into Girl’s Night Out with a confession that shakes the group to its core.  In the aftermath of Norah’s revelation, each of her “sister friends” -- photojournalist Camille, stay-at-home mom Leila, publicist Ellison and designer Kate -- are left questioning their roads-not-taken and revisiting the vastly different choices they’ve made in love and life.  Told in alternating points of view between the five friends, Center Ring is a story about modern women finding balance through action, relationships and growth as well as a deep examination of the power of female friendship and its complex bonds.

Cassandra's Review-  I have never really had the true feeling or ability to bond with people the way that this book creates it.  I really enjoyed taking part in spending time with each of the  characters as they are all very well written and placed in the story.  I felt a mix of delight and sadness during my two sittings in which it took to finish the book (over 400 pages).  I think that this author must be a real joy to spend time with and a blessing to know.  Her work is very powerful and aims for the heart.

Otter Tales By Kathleen Morrissey Review

Morrissey teaches children about otter behavior while instilling the moral that parents know what’s best for their children.

When three young otters are left to their own devices they are bound to get into trouble, not unlike three children. The lessons they learn along the way however, will keep them safe from the hidden dangers in and out of the sea.

Morrissey’s inspiration derives from one particular experience with otters on one of her many family outdoor adventures to the San Juan Islands.

“All my books carry themes related to family, vacations, animals and adventures,” Morrissey said. “They also include being safe, watching out for one another, and following sound safety rules.”
The author hopes children will grow a further appreciation for their parents’ role and discover the many adventures that can be had in nature, whether camping, hiking or picnicking. They are all great ways to experience the wide array of animal and plant life with which we share the planet.

Cassandra's Review- The book is a real adventure and you must stick to it with a huge, strong commitment in order to get the full benefit.  For me at this time in my life, that would not be possible.  I do think that there are facts and great bits of information that I can utilize to make my life a little easier.  Conquering three major strengths of a human and making them stronger then ever when you have the 30 days to commit, will be really helpful with this book as a guide.

I Can Learn to Pray by Holly Hawkins Shivers Review

Help your children develop a closer relationship with God through prayer.

The more we talk with God in prayer—bringing Him thanks, praise, joys, hurts, confessions, and requests—the stronger our faith becomes. We’re not always sure how to pray . . . but Jesus says that prayer is something to be learned. And what better time to learn how to pray than during childhood, when habits that will last a lifetime are formed?

This 52-week experience is a terrific guide for families to understand prayer. From “Wow!” and “Thank you!” prayers to “I’m sorry!” and “Help!” prayers, children will learn what it means to draw near to God and to be changed by Him. Holly Hawkins Shivers, a mother gifted at connecting with kids, makes every discussion engaging and relatable, and helps young believers grow leaps and bounds in their faith.

Give your children a gift that will stay with them forever—the power of prayer.
