Horror-Business-Cover
Armed with a passion for classic B-grade horror movies, a script co-written by his twin brother, and a wicked crush on his death-obsessed neighbor; hardcore horror fan Jason Nightshade must finish his student film.
But his plans are derailed when the children of suburban Silver Creek start disappearing – his twin brother among them. Battling a possessed video camera, a crazy zombie dog, a monstrous bully, and a frighteningly broken down family life, Jason embarks on a mission to find his lost brother so the two can write an ending for his story.
As any horror fan knows, saving the day won’t be easy, as Jason finds himself forced to face the real world where death isn’t just a splash of fake blood on a camera lens.

WHAT READER’S ARE SAYING:

Horror Business is, more than anything, an old-school horror story, digging deep into King’s meticulous nostalgia, processed through the postmodernism ofScream, filtered at turns through the nerdiness of Dawson’s Creek and Super 8, and then drenched in the blackness of a teenage boy’s brain.” – Keith McLeary, Author

“What the author really captures here is not just a skin-crawling tale of monsters. He shows us where the real horror lies, in the awkward development of children into teens, the fearful uncertainty.” – Matt E. Lewis, The Radvocate

“Horror Business combines intelligence and entertainment into a particularly creepy read.” – Jennifer Bardsley, Author

The Sheik's Ruby Blog Tour Giveaway $25 Amazon Gift Card or Paypal Cash

The Sheik's Ruby
sheiksThe Sheik's Ruby by Whitney Award Winning Author Jennifer Moore Shelby wants to break away from the mold of her small town and make a name for herself in the big-city journalism world. While skiing, she meets mysterious stranger Hakim who is actually the prince of the Middle Eastern kingdom of Khali-dar. When his enemies learn of Hakim’s connection to an American girl, they target Shelby. Fleeing to the safety of Khali-dar, Shelby falls deeper in love not only with the prince, but with his country. As she struggles to survive terrorist attacks, withstand the Sheik’s prejudice, and find her place in a world she doesn’t understand, she must choose which life she is willing to sacrifice—the comfortable one she has worked so hard to create, or the one with the man she loves.
Excerpt “Does your father know you’re asking me?” Hakim gazed over her shoulder and took a deep breath. “He knows.” “But he doesn’t want me to come, right?” “I will bring a companion of my choice tomorrow.” He locked his gaze onto Shelby’s and leaned toward her. “You are my choice. Will you please come?” The Sheik apparently doesn’t buy into the whole “guests are gifts from Allah” idea. “Of course, I would love to come.” She smiled, but knew it didn’t appear convincing. She hated feeling like she was the source of their discord. “You are nervous. Please do not feel uncomfortable.” “I’m worried I’ll say or do something stupid.” She winced. “I’m not exactly a refined debutante who knows how to act in formal situations. I don’t want to embarrass you, Hakim.” “I do not want you to be a refined debutante. I have spent enough time with those people to know they are not what I want.”Hakim maneuvered his horse until he faced Shelby and their legs were nearly touching. He leaned closer, his gaze earnest. “What I want is you, Shelby Jo.” He cupped her cheek in his hand. Shelby felt her heart flutter and her nerve endings tingle as she lost herself in the deep brown pools of his eyes. His thumb stroked her skin, leaving a trail of heat in its wake. He slid his hand into her hair and drew her closer, his lips covering hers. When she drew away, Shelby inhaled deeply and grinned. “Hearing you put it that way, how could I possibly refuse?” add to goodreads Praise for Sheik's Ruby “What a fun read! When fifteen-year-old nerd and gamer Max Anderson thinks he’s sneaking a preview of an unpublished video game, he doesn’t realize that 1) He’s been chosen as a beta, an experimental test player. 2) He’s playing the ultimate history game, transporting him into the actual past: anywhere and anytime. And 3) Survival is optional: to return home he must decipher the game’s rules and complete its missions—if he lives long enough. To fail means to stay in the past—forever. Now Max is trapped in medieval Germany, unprepared and clueless. It is 1471 and he quickly learns that being an outcast may cost him his head. Especially after rescuing a beautiful peasant girl from a deadly infection and thus provoking sinister wannabe Duke Ott. Overnight he is dragged into a hornets’ nest of feuding lords who will stop at nothing to bring down the conjuring stranger in their midst.

Interview with the Author!

Can you tell us about your book, Escape from the Past, in 25 words or less?
Max, a fifteen-year old nerdy gamer tries out an experimental computer game and unwittingly time-travels to medieval Germany.
What was your favorite scene to write?
I have several favorites. Here is one: When Max is caught by the guards of Castle Hanstein and is brought in front of Knight Werner, he fears for his life. To Max’s surprise Werner calls him Max “Nerds” because he thinks Max is some sort of royalty. It finally dawns on Max that Werner is referring to the T-shirt he wears. It shows “Nerds” with a crown above it and happens to be Max’s favorite shirt.
What was the hardest scene to edit out?
The novel used to begin with Max going over to his best friend Jimmy’s house where he sort of strong-arms him into sharing the game. They talk about Jimmy covering up for Max getting drunk after learning that his father was going to leave. At the time I felt this was important information, however, it was too slow a start to make it into the final version.
Is this a standalone or a series?
Escape from the Past is a trilogy. The second book has just been accepted for publication with an expected release date of Winter 2015/2016. Here is a little blurb:

In Escape from the Past – The Kid Max tries to return to his love and his best friend, Bero, in medieval Germany. Instead he lands in 1881 New Mexico. Struggling to get his bearings and coming to terms with having been misled by Dr. Stuler’s evil computer game, he runs into Billy the Kid. To his amazement Billy isn’t at all the ruthless killer, history made him out to be.
Trouble brews when a dying Warm Springs Apache gives Max a huge gold nugget to help his sister Ela escape from Fort Sumner. Shopping for supplies Max attracts the attention of ruthless bandits. Before Max can ask the Kid’s help, he and Ela are forced to embark on a journey to find his imaginary goldmine.

What else are you currently working on?
I’m finishing up a story set during the American Civil War about two teen friends, Tip, a black slave and Adam, a poor farm boy who embark on separate yet intertwined journeys of survival that will test their very will to live.
My other project is a coming-of-age story of a boy and girl during World War II in Germany and of course, I’m finishing up the third book in the Escape from the Past trilogy.
What is currently in your TBR pile?
The Secret History by Donna Tartt
Ella Wood by Michelle Isenhoff
I’m currently reading She’s Come Undone by Wally Lamb and The Widow of the South by Robert Hicks. A couple more novels are waiting on my Kindle until I take a few days off.
