The Skin Regime (Book and Peel) Review and Giveaway

The best-selling The Skin Regime: Boot Camp for Beautiful Skin is now in its 2nd Edition. The book is is updated, expanded and still reveals the truth about beauty products and skin care: Why most products are junk and a huge waste of time and money. Direct and humorous, the book instructs how to create a personalized regime based on products and advice most dermatologists recommend for their patients: The truly skin-transforming ingredients that really work to make gorgeous skin. You won't find the truth in beauty magazines because they exist to advertise lotions and potions made by the over-priced cosmetic industry. And those ridiculous models they use--teenagers or movie stars with good skin, wearing tons of makeup with heavily-altered photos. They want you to look like that when even those girls don’t look like that! You won't find the truth from estheticians who just want you to keep paying for expensive facials--they don't want you to know how easy it is to get the proper ingredients and do it yourself, saving lots of time and money. But you WILL get the truth in this book. Well-known dermatologist, Dr. David Bank, provides the book's foreword and was the technical advisor--he is not afraid to tell the truth, either! If you like to get pampered with salon facials or doctor treatments--and it's working well for you--then keep enjoying yourself. But not everyone has that kind of money--or time. And with a big dose of bravado, The Skin Regime presents a first-time ever challenge to established cosmetic companies to see if any of them can even come close to the results of The Skin Regime. (We bet no major cosmetic company will accept the challenge--because they KNOW they won't even come close). Five percent of book revenues are being donated to worthy non-profit organizations. Visit TheSkinRegime.com and read the first chapter of the book for free!

Dana Ramos, author of The Skin Regime, is a skin-care enthusiast, a writer, and an entrepreneur who lives in Westchester, New York. She's from California where she obtained a Masters in Professional Writing from USC and wrote screenplays (a requirement for California residency).

By the way--she is 52 in this UN-TOUCHED UP photo, taken by James Robinson of Westchester, NY.  She is not wearing face foundation makeup or concealer--just some eye makeup.

Dr. David Bank, technical advisor to The Skin Regime, is the founder and head of The Center for Dermatology, Cosmetic and Laser Surgery in Mount Kisco, New York. His patient list contains famous names as well as regular people (like Dana!). He is frequently called on as a source for television shows such as The Today Show, Good Morning America, and magazines--including Vogue, Elle and Allure. He is a former President of the New York State Society for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery.

I also received a sample of this peel.
Layer-able skin peel for all skin types and colors

Cassandra's Review-  The peel is intense and an experience your going to have to try for yourself. I know everyone has different skin types and sensitivities so it will affect us all in a different way. I will point out that it does get a bit intense and use with caution.  The book Is great for learning a little about your skin and how to make it your best.  It is perfect for any beauty lover that really wants to do something to enhance the greatness of your skin.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Conrad and the Cowgirl Next Door Review

The publisher has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book through BookLook Bloggers

19523290
I hear that becoming a cowboy can be dangerous. Especially if you don't know the rules.

I don t know the rules.

It s a good thing Conrad brought his Mega Ultimate Extreme First Aid Kit to Uncle Clint s ranch because learning how to be a cowboy turns out to be a lot harder and more painful than he thought. Conrad has a lot to learn including don t squat with spurs on and never wave your red sweatshirt at a bull. But the biggest challenge of all is dealing with Imogene Louise Lathrup, the know-it-all-cowgirl next door. When Imogene shows up, she is all too happy to point out Conrad s shortcomings. In this follow-up to their debut hit Pirates on the Farm, author Denette Fretz and illustrator Gene Barretta team up once again to tell a humorous tale about what it means to love your neighbor."
Denette Fretz
Denette Fretz is a first grade teacher whose passion is crafting inventive, engaging stories that encourage life-application of biblical principles. Fretz resides in Oregon with her husband, two teenage children, a sassy cat, and a spastic Jack-A-Bee. Her hobbies include singing, drawing, playing the guitar, and collecting picture books.

Cassandra's Review-  This is a feel good fun book. I love the illustrations as they really help to bring the story to life.  I have children of all age ranges in my home and they all enjoyed this read.  I would have liked to have read the first book  Pirates on the Farm as well.

Big Book of Quizzes Fun, Quirky Questions for You and Your Friends Review

The publisher has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book through BookLook Bloggers.

Welcome to the world of, well, you! The Faithgirlz! Big Book of Quizzes offers more than twenty quizzes delve into school, friends, faith, family, guys, and questions "All-About-You." Take the quizzes on your own or with friends. Some funny, some thought-provoking, every quiz ends with wide range of answers to help girls think about themselves, get advice on tons of topics, and learn little “who knew?” facts about how they really think and feel - done in a fun format every girl loves. Girls will love circling questions, asking BFFs for best answers, and LOLing at those “that’s SO me” moments. And, yet, each has a takeaway message that makes the Big Book of Quizzes a super entertaining, relevant, and interactive read for girls ages eight to twelve.

Cassandra's Review-  The book is fun and will help girls relate a bit with friends. I took the quizzes as well and I would say that the results are very real.  It will help to teach your girls how to love and learn about themselves as well. Its a good starting point for conversations and I would highly recommend to teen girls that are at the stage of self image discovery.

Epigenetics: The Death of the Genetic Theory of Disease Transmission Review

I have received a complimentary copy of this book.

The book EPIGENETICS is a global update of Darwin's book The Origin of Species. There is no other book that embraces all of the events (political, socially, biologically, nutritionally, chemically and genetically) that have been spawned since the publication of The Origin of Species by Darwin more than 100 years ago.

EPIGENETICS is required reading for the very survival of Americans and yes all of humanity - modern man has bet on the wrong horse to save them from disease and pestilence - the medical system has failed us fearfully. It is predictable that this book will impact the world of the everyday man, science, politics, social engineering and medicine to the same degree that Darwin's The Origin of Species did more than 100 years ago.

This book will be welcomed and enjoyed by religious leaders, community leaders, educators, parents and students of biology, nutrients and genetics in all forms. The general public will obviously be the larger market.

Dr. Wallach has been lecturing 300 times per year to national and international audiences for more than 20 years. Dr.s Wallach and Ma have 10 best- selling books that were self-published (the best known Dead Doctors Don't Lie -hundreds of thousands sold - a favorite with Amazon.com) and dozens of CD titles - the most listened to of which is Dead Doctors Don't Lie which has sold just short of 200 million copies - Dr. Wallach's audience is very large and very loyal.

Historically, Wallach's audiences range from 100 to 500 people, however, in the last 10 years enlarged by simulcast technology his audiences can range into the tens of thousands.

For 18 years, Dr. Wallach has been the host of two one hour interactive radio talk shows that air M-F from 12:00 - 2:00 PST. Since 2011 Wallach has also been allied with the GCN radio network that has 1,342 stations.

About the Author:

Dr Wallach was born and raised in Missouri , attended the University of Missouri, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Science of Agriculture. Dr. Wallach 's research has resulted in the publication of more than 70 peer review and refereed journal articles in the fields of nutrition and pharmaceutical research, and he has made major contributions to eight multi-authored text and reference books on these subjects.

Dr.Ma Lan was educated in the Peoples Republic of China. Dr. Ma Lan received her M.D. from Beijing Medical University, took her residency in Peoples Hospital, Beijing and was a staff surgeon at the Canton Air Force Hospitals for eight years; she received her M.S. (Master of Science) in transplant immunology from Zhong-Shan Medical University, Canton, Peoples Republic of China. As with all Chinese doctors, Dr. Ma Lan is also trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Dr. Schrauzer is Professor Emeritus (UCSD), researcher, inventor, and author. He is the Director of the San Diego-based Biological Trace Element Research Institute. Gerhard N. Schrauzer studied chemistry at the University of Munich, where he received Ph.D. degree with summa cum laude in 1956 and became a member of its Science Faculty in 1963. He came to the United States in 1964 and in 1966 accepted a position as Full Professor at the University of California, San Diego.

Cassandra's Review- This book is very big and very long.  It is super hard to not get tired of reading it or bored with it, if your not interested in the topic. If on the other hand you are into the topic and very excited about learning more, this is the very book you need.  I see where theories and conversations will take flight during and after indulging on these pages and that alone is worth picking up a copy.  I do not think that unless you have a child prodigy, young kids will have any interest in this what so ever.  I would strongly recommend it for 17+ and beyond not because of anything wrong with the book per say, but because I just do not think younger minds care or know how to relate.

Cassandra's Review-  The Author will bring up your spirit and at the same time help you balance your goals in the day to day hustle and bustle. If your feeling down and out of the loop this is a great eye opener and will get you back on a positive track. I would recommend this book for older youth and adults as they would be the ones that would benefit the most from it.   I think it would be really neat to go and listen to David when he is speaking somewhere.

 Excerpt

**Chapter One: Overture: The Power of Music (page 5) “In February 1985, as many as three thousand beluga whales were trapped under ice in the Senyavina Strait of Siberia, a narrow body of water across the Bering Strait from Alaska. There were only a few breathing holes in the ice, and the whales had to take turns surfacing for air. Food was running out, the whales were becoming exhausted, and some were even dying. When all seemed hopeless, a Soviet icebreaker, the Moskva, came to the rescue. The ship broke through the ice, making an escape path for the whales, but they wouldn’t budge. Knowing that whales like music, they tried pop and jazz, but still the whales remained motionless. Finally, the crew tried classical music. It was then that the whales followed the music to the open sea and to freedom.” **Chapter Six: Noteworthy: Learning Values Through Music (pages 121-122) Gaining Perseverance and Determination We live in an age of instants: instant photocopies, instant food, instant photos, instant communications of all sorts, and more. Although many of these instants make our lives easier, they can also give our children a distorted view of life and how goals are achieved. Many children grow up expecting instant results in life, never learning to work for or wait for a reward. When things don’t come easily or immediately, they give up. For this reason, studying a musical instrument becomes a priceless lesson. As a child begins to learn to play the flute, for example, she soon realizes that this is not going to be done in an “instant.” It will take time, patience, perseverance, determination, and the ability to stick to the task, day after day, year after year, to play the flute with any degree of proficiency. Learning to read notes, to develop hand-eye coordination, to listen, and to count rhythms is a process involving perseverance. As she works through the difficulties and challenges of learning an instrument, she soon learns that determination and perseverance equal success. Likewise, the perseverance a child learns by practicing her instrument can be, as the experience of many demonstrate, transferred to other areas of her life. For instance, when subjects in school are difficult, she will continue to try her best until the assignment is completed, confident that eventually she will be successful. When life throws her a curve she will not give up, but will work harder with even greater diligence and perseverance until she reaches her goal.   Although most of the great composers suffered personal adversity, they persevered and went on to write beautiful sonatas, symphonies, and operas. Beethoven, despite his progressive deafness at an early age, wrote perhaps his greatest music after going completely deaf. Bach suffered blindness and diabetes, yet continued to compose music. George Frideric Handel suffered a debilitating stroke that put him in a rest home. The world felt that a great life had come to a close. With dogged persistence, he shuffled his way to the organ each night after everyone had gone to bed, forcing his fingers to slowly play each key on the organ. The nuns who heard him were amazed at his unfailing courage and determination. Eventually, he made a complete recovery and went on to write many great pieces of music.

SharleneAuthor Sharlene Habermeyer: Sharlene Habermeyer, MA has spent over twenty-five years researching the effects of music in the brain development of children. She is passionate about how people of all ages learn and how music is a catalyst for learning. It currently boasts over one-hundred members.   Sharlene’s initial inspiration for Good Music Brighter Children came from the extensive work she did with her severely learning disabled son, and finding that music was his strongest catalyst for learning she began passionately researching the effects music had on the developing and mature brain. A college instructor, a popular speaker, and a consultant, she is the mother of five boys and lives with her husband in Torrance, California. She has spoken at parent conferences around the United States including the Parents as Teachers Conference (PAT) and the Crucial Years Conference in Missouri. Fifty years ago The Commander came into power and murdered all who opposed him. In his warped mind, the seven deadly sins were the downfall of society.
To punish the guilty, he created the Hole, a place where sinners are branded according to their sins. Sinners are forced to live a less than human existence in deplorable conditions, under the watchful eye of guards who are ready to kill anyone who steps out of line.
Now, LUST wraps around my neck like thick, blue fingers, threatening to choke the life out of me. I’ve been accused of a crime I didn’t commit, and the Hole is my new home.
Constant darkness.
Brutal and savage violence.
Excruciating pain.
Every day is a fight for survival.
But I won’t let them win. I will not die in the Hole.
I am more than my brand. I’m a fighter. My name is Lexi Hamilton, and this is my story.

No one understands. Eric is alone as he battles his sanity in a town of tormenters. Suddenly a new friendship emerges after the new kid, Kyle Barrett, moves to town.
Eric reluctantly reveals his secret. Is it a curse or a gift? He isn’t certain, but with Kyle by his side he finds the courage to seek the truth.
