Late at night on Christmas Eve, Smokey, a six-month-old kitten, looks at the brightly lit Christmas tree and decides to stay awake until Santa Claus arrives.
But when he curls up under the tree, he sees that there is no stocking with his name on it! He'll have to climb to the top of the tree, near the star, so that Santa will see him. As Smokey starts climbing, first he hears Alfie, an elf ornament who carries a tray of gingerbread. Alfie warns him that climbing the tree could be dangerous, but Smokey keeps going. All the way up, the Christmas ornaments tell him to be careful and worry whether he'll be safe. What will happen when Smokey gets to the top of the Christmas tree?
In this children's story, a mischievous kitten who wants to see Santa Claus climbs the family's Christmas tree and gets some advice along the way.
