Autism & The Rest of Us By Jeanne Beard Review
Autism & The Rest of Us: How to Sustain a Healthy, Functional, and Satisfying Relationship with a Person on the Autism Spectrum
Help for those who want to make a meaningful connection with a person with autism, enrich the quality of life or learn practical information useful to anyone who needs to relate to someone on the Autism Spectrum. Helpful to those family members who are wondering if their loved one is on the autism spectrum, or who have recently received a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. A helpful guide for those who work in an environment where understanding someone on the autism spectrum will promote greater success and functionality such as teachers, police and business communities.
I received a complimentary copy.
Cassandra's Review - Autism is not just one thing, it is not something that can be picked apart and dealt with in a more uniform manner and no two autistic people are completely alike so boxing in the spectrum would be a huge misunderstanding that most people make. As far as the book, I would say that the author does share key points and helps to shed some light on the relationship connection and awareness. While the book is written well and the thought processes are clear, I feel like it can only be so much and should be used as an added resource, but you will learn to modify and connect yourself with your own person or child as long as you are willing to respect them and help.
