Like children everywhere, Yahooty has a mischievous cuteness that’s hard not to fall in love with. From the way he “borrows” your socks, to the creative sock puppets he leaves behind for children, Yahooty finds his way into the hearts of all who read his story.
“Today, more than ever, parents must consciously raise caring and thoughtful individuals to better our world,” author Jen Oloo says. “As you read the story of Yahooty to your kids, they discover that Yahooty does selfless acts to bring happiness to the hearts of all children. Yahooty Who?™ is a valuable early look into the important lessons of being generous and helpful and also a great way to connect with kids no matter where you are of what time of year it is.”
The main character was inspired by Jen Oloo’s Grandpa Walt, who introduced his grandchildren to Yahooty, an imaginative helper who would play games with the kids. Though Grandpa Walt is now gone, Oloo is grateful that her own children – and children around the world – are still benefiting from the character Grandpa Walt created.
“As parents and influencers of children, we must lead by example and choose stories that help our children grow into adults who value the environment, practice inclusion, have self-respect and bring positive change,” Oloo says. “My co-authors and I believe in the power of education for children through story, characters, and parental interaction.”
