Gravitas Ventures has announced the DVD and Blu-Ray release of GLAAD Award-winner Del Shore’s A VERY SORDID WEDDING, a continuation of Shores 2000 feature film Sordid Lives. The energetic cast includes Bonnie Bedelia (“Parenthood”), Leslie Jordan (“American Horror Story”), Caroline Rhea (“Sabrina, The Teenage Witch), Dale Dickey (Hell or High Water), Emerson Collins (Southern Baptist Sissies), Ann Walker (“Child of the 70s”), Katherine Bailess (“Hit the Floor”), Alec Mapa (“Devious Maids”), Aleks Paunovic (War for the Planet of the Apes) Levi Kreis (2010 Tony Award®, “Best Featured Actor in a Musical,” Million Dollar Quartet) and Academy Award® winner Whoopi Goldberg (Ghost, “The View”).
17 years after family matriarch Peggy tripped over G.W.’s wooden legs in Sordid Lives, same-sex marriage equality has barreled into Winters, Texas and not everyone is ready to accept it. An anniversary memorial service is being planned in honor of Peggy at the bar while the Southside Baptist Church plans an "Anti-Equality" rally to protest the abomination of gay marriage and work to defend their religious freedom. The beloved cast of colorful characters are all on a collision course for shenanigans and fireworks on the big night. Along the way a bisexual serial killer shows up, a drag queen country medley is performed and a beauty-salon-versus-the-bigots battle turns getting your hair done into the front lines of the equality battle. Friendships are tested and families are reunited as fear and bigotry are confronted with acceptance and understanding on the way to a surprise wedding with (almost) everyone in attendance.
Sordid Lives was a massive hit among LGBT audiences and spawned a 12-episode TV series in 2008 — stars such as Bedelia, Olivia Newton-John Delta Burke and Rue McClanahan appeared.
Shores wrote, directed and produced A Very Sordid Wedding. Emerson Collins also produced. Louise Beard (Show Yourself), Jeff Beesley (Nomis) and Phyllis Laing (Heaven is For Real) are the Executive Producers.

Cassandra's Review- FIlled with controversial material and scenes that younger eyes should not see, this movie is laced with humor, strength and is a sequel. Even though I found myself cringing at some point this movie was well casted and the humor is evident. I need to say that I recommend this only to adults and it is not faith based in any way.
